A fresh blue and white checkered cotton dress from the 1940s or 1950s, possibly some
type of nurse’s uniform. The short-sleeved dress features a round neckline with a shirt collar and a buttoned front that opens to the waist with light-colored buttons (the buttons are unique, attached to small buttonholes with metal rings and can be removed for washing). The sleeves have turn-up cuffs, and there are two vertical decorative pleats on either side of the front. The back has a lovely yoke at the shoulders. The waist has a seam, and a small slit secured with a snap button extends to the hips. The skirt is slightly flared towards the hem and has pockets at the hips.Inside the collar, there are lingerie buttons for attaching a detachable collar.
